New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) A court here Saturday extended the police custody of Lokesh Sharma, an employee of Noida-based energy consultantcy, arrested in the document leak case.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Satish Kumar Arora allowed Delhi Police to quiz Lokesh Sharma, 33, an amployee of Infraline Energy, till March 3.
He was presented before court after his five day police custody expired.
During the argument, police told court further investigations are being conducted as few more names of people working as private secretaries and assistants of senior bureaucrats in the ministries have cropped up.
The police also added that Sharma is required for confrontation with other accused arrested in the case.
Sharma, who was arrested Sunday, used to provide stolen documents of the coal and petroleum ministries to some corporate houses, police said.
Police have arrested Jatinder Nagpal, personal assistant to the joint secretary in the ministry along with Vipan Kumar, personal assistant to a member of the UPSC, Wednesday and was remanded to five day's police custody Thursday.
So far, 16 people, including Sharma, Nagpal and Kumar, have been arrested and Delhi Police have registered two FIRs in connection with the leak of classified documents related to various ministries, including coal, petroleum and natural gas, and power.
All three are booked in the second FIR which was registered Feb 20.
The first FIR was registered Feb 17 night in connection with the case relating to the leak of documents from the petroleum and other ministries, which was unearthed with the arrest of two former multi-tasking staff (MTS) employees of Shastri Bhawan.
