Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge described the former Prime Minister as a transformative leader. Kharge said that he reshaped the country's economic path and expanded opportunities for millions through economic reforms, lifting millions out of poverty. He said, “Known for his humility, integrity, and wisdom, he led with dignity and compassion, ensuring that progress remained inclusive and welfare benefits reached the most needy. The rights-based paradigm is a testament to this approach. We built a stronger India under his vision.” The Congress president wrote on X, "We pay tribute to a statesman whose honest public service and legacy of lasting reforms will continue to inspire generations."

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday. Sarma said that the nation will remember the contributions of the Congress leader, who was renowned as an economist. He said in a post on X, "Remembering former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh ji on his first death anniversary today." The Chief Minister further added, "His contributions to the nation will always be remembered."
Singh, who passed away last year at the age of 92, was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Assam five times since 1991, including during his ten-year tenure as Prime Minister.
