The Union Government has launched a web portal for electric vehicles at the ongoing United Nations Climate Change Conference in Glasgow, Scotland. NITI Aayog said in a statement that the E-Amrit (e-Amrit) website will be a one-stop destination for all information related to electric vehicles such as their purchase, investment opportunities, policies, and subsidies.

Will break myths related to EVs

The web portal will also bust the myths associated with the adoption of electric vehicles. This will inevitably complement all the initiatives being taken by the government to sensitize the consumers on the benefits of adopting electric vehicles. NITI Aayog intends to add more features and introduce innovative tools to make the e-Amrit portal more interactive and user-friendly.

Part of the UK-India Joint Roadmap 2030

The e-Amrit portal is developed and hosted by NITI Aayog under a collaborative knowledge exchange program with the UK Government. It is a part of the UK-India Joint Roadmap 2030 that has been signed by the Prime Ministers of both countries. The launch of the portal was attended by UK's High-Level Climate Action Champion Nigel Topping and NITI Aayog Advisor Sudhendu Jyoti Sinha.

boost EV

In recent times, the country has taken several initiatives to accelerate the transition towards an electric future by decarbonization of transport and adoption of electric mobility. Schemes such as FAME and PLI have been particularly important in creating an ecosystem for the early adoption of electric vehicles.

State E-Vehicle Policy

Various Indian states have introduced their electric vehicle policies which include subsidies for the purchase of electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers. States have also exempted electric vehicles from the registration fee and road tax. Delhi has been at the forefront of successfully implementing its Electric Vehicle Policy. The city has seen a spurt in the registration of electric vehicles in the last few months and has now withdrawn the subsidy benefit from its policy.
