The Election Commission has hit back at the allegations of Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi. Rahul had accused the Election Commission of vote theft and collusion with the BJP yesterday. On this, Election Commission sources said that if the Congress MP and Leader of Opposition believes in his analysis and believes that his allegations against the Election Commission are correct, then he should have no problem in signing the affidavit. If Rahul does not do so, it will mean that he does not believe in his analysis, findings, and absurd allegations. In such a situation, he should apologize to the country. Therefore, he has two options - either sign the manifesto or apologize to the country for making absurd allegations against the Election Commission.
Asked to present evidence by giving an affidavit
Earlier, taking cognizance of Rahul's allegations of tampering with the voter list in Karnataka assembly constituency, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state had asked him to present evidence by giving an affidavit. Apart from this, in connection with Rahul's allegations of fraud in the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the state's Chief Electoral Officer had also asked the Leader of Opposition to submit an affidavit and provide evidence of alleged inclusion or deletion of voters' names in the voter list.
Rahul's allegations?
Earlier on the previous day, during a press conference at the Congress headquarters in Delhi, the Leader of Opposition had alleged that there was collusion between the Election Commission of India and the BJP, which resulted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi getting his third term. Rahul Gandhi said, 'Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister with a margin of just 25 seats. The Election Commission is helping the BJP to destroy the electoral system in India. The Election Commission is not giving us data in Mahadevpur (Karnataka Assembly constituency). If we do this in other Lok Sabha seats as well, the truth of our democracy will come out.'
