Education Ministry Survey Report: The survey of the Ministry of Education revealed, 48 percent children in the country go to school on foot and 9 percent by school vehicles

48 percent of the school-going children in the country go to school on foot. Only nine percent of children use school vehicles. This has been revealed in the report of the National Achievement Survey (NAS)-2021 of the Ministry of Education. According to the survey, 25 percent of the schools lack the parental support necessary for the studies of the students.

 

The survey covered 34 lakh students from 1.18 lakh schools in 720 districts. The survey was conducted on November 12 last year for classes III, V, VIII, and 10 across the country. According to the ministry, NAS-2021 was organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education. Before this NAS was done in 2017.

 

25% of parents do not cooperate in their child's education

 

87 percent of the schools guide the parents in the studies of the students, while 25 percent of the schools said that the parents did not get the support of the students in their studies.

 

18% of children go to school by cycle, 9% by public vehicles, 9% by school vehicles, 8% by their two-wheelers, and 3% by their four-wheelers.

 

According to the report, 89 percent of children share the lessons taught in school with their families.

 

The workload of 65% of teachers

 

According to the Education Ministry's National Achievement Survey (NAS)-2021, 44 percent of teachers lack adequate workspace, while 65 percent are overworked. According to the survey, 58 percent of the teachers have participated in the discussion on the new National Education Policy. Five lakh teachers from 1.18 lakh schools in rural and urban areas participated in NAS-2021.

 

97 percent of teachers expressed satisfaction with their jobs, of which 92 percent expressed scope for their professional development. As per the survey, 52 percent have participated in professional development programs conducted by DIET, CBSE, and NCERT.
