Security forces have tightened their grip on the terrorists who are trying to create unrest by targeting the common people in the Kashmir Valley. After killing two terrorists in Awantipora on Wednesday, the security forces once again laid siege to the terrorists in the Haripora area of district Shopian on Thursday. Firing continues from both sides. Two to three terrorists are expected to be surrounded in the area.
According to the information received from the police, when the security forces received information about the presence of terrorists in the Haripora area of Shopian late last evening, a joint team of SOG, Army, and CRPF reached the area and started searching for the terrorists by siege. During the search operation, when the hiding terrorists saw the security forces coming near them, they started firing on them to save their lives. The alert soldiers also took their positions as soon as the firing started and started a retaliatory fire on the terrorists. Meanwhile, the terrorists were also given a chance to surrender. At present, the process of firing is going on from both sides.
Let us tell you that on Wednesday, security forces killed Shafat Muzaffar Sofi alias Mawiya of Ansar Gazwatul Hind and Umar Nabi Teli alias Talha of Lashkar-e-Taiba in an encounter in Tral, Awantipora in South Kashmir. The bodies of both the terrorists were buried in North Kashmir after completing the necessary legal formalities.
Both Shafat and Umar were wanted by the police in about two dozen terror incidents in Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pampore, and Khanmoh. It was Shafat Muzaffar who, along with his comrades, carried out a grenade attack on the Kikcamp of CRPF in Tral on 19 March. Apart from this, he was also involved in three IED attacks. Both Shafat and Umar were also involved in the murder of PDP-related Sarpanch Samir Ahmed in Khanmoh last month.
IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told that Shafat and Umar were roaming together for the past few months. Both of them were active in Srinagar and its adjoining areas. The police were continuously raiding their hideouts. Went late on Tuesday night, and it was found that they were hiding in the troll. At the same time, the police along with the soldiers of Army's 42 RR and CRPF's 180th Corps surrounded their hideout. Both were repeatedly allowed to surrender but instead of surrendering, they opened fire. The encounter that started after midnight ended with his death on Wednesday morning. Both the terrorists killed were locals. One of them was Shafat alias Mawiya Ansar from Gajwatul Hind and the other is Umar Teli of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
