Even after the defeat in Nandigram, Mamta Banerjee will become the CM of Bengal, the date of the fixed oath; Will present claim today

Supremo Mamata Banerjee, the party that won the biggest win for the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, is going to become the chief minister for the third time. It is clear from the date of swearing-in for Mamata that she will sit on the Chief Minister's chair herself despite the defeat in Nandigram. Didi will take the oath of the post of CM for the third time on 5 May. Sources in the Raj Bhavan said that Mamta Banerjee will meet Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar at 7 pm today to stake a claim to form the government.

Earlier, Mamata Banerjee was unanimously elected as the leader of the Legislature Party of TMC. According to information received from the Chief Minister's Office, Mamta Banerjee will take the oath of office and secrecy in a simple ceremony on 5 May, while her minister will take the oath on 6 May the next day.

After the defeat in Nandigram, Mamta Banerjee has filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging disturbances and demanded a recounting of votes. According to the constitution, Mamata Banerjee can become the Chief Minister despite not being a member of the Legislative Assembly, but she will have to be elected within six months. Mamta Banerjee has also proved the allegations of BJP at present. The BJP had said many times that Mamata Banerjee could hand over power to nephew Abhishek Banerjee after the election victory. This speculation was further intensified after the defeat of Mamata Banerjee in Nandigram.

The Trinamool Congress has created history by registering a resounding victory in the West Bengal assembly elections and has retained the power of the state for the third consecutive time. According to the final result declared by the Election Commission, the party has won 213 out of 292 assembly seats, which is more than the magic figure of the majority. Whereas, the BJP, which gave its full strength in this assembly election, won 77 is.

Along with this, the ISF, contesting on the symbol of the National Secular Majlis Party, has got one seat and an independent candidate has also won. The Trinamool Congress performed better this time than the 2016 assembly elections when it won 211 seats. The BJP could not succeed in overthrowing the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress from state power, but this is the first time it has become the main opposition party in Bengal. The BJP won just three seats in the 2016 assembly elections. The account of the Left Front and Congress, which has ruled the state for decades, is not even open this time and their alliance with the ISF has received less than 8 percent of the vote.
