Bengaluru FC won the title for the first time by defeating Mumbai City FC 2-1 in the final match of the Durand Cup on Sunday. After the match, when Bengaluru captain Sunil Chhetri arrived at the trophy ceremony, West Bengal Governor La Ganesan misbehaved with him. Talking about the competition, Shiv Shakti gave Bengaluru a great start and scored the first goal in the 11th minute itself. Shiv dashed the Mumbai fielders to the goalkeeper, who had come to some distance from the goal. Taking advantage of this, Shiva brought the ball over the goalkeeper's head into the net and gave the team a 1-0 lead.

 

Mumbai City bounced back after some time and Apulia converted a free kick in the 30th minute. After a 1-1 draw in the first half, Costa scored in the 61st minute which proved to be the deciding factor. Costa guided captain Chhetri's corner kick to direct the ball into the net as Bengaluru FC registered a 2-1 win.
