Facebook has suspended the account of former US President Donald Trump for two years. The period of two years will be reckoned from January 7, 2021. Trump's account was suspended for the first time on the same day. Facebook Vice President (Global Affairs) Nick Clegg gave this information through a blog post on Friday.
According to Facebook, Trump will no longer be able to access his Facebook account until January 7, 2023. That is, he will have to stay away from Facebook even in the mid-term elections to be held in November 2022.
Trump said - this is an insult to our voters
Trump has described this action of Facebook as an insult to the 75 million people who voted for Trump in the 2020 election. Trump has said that those people cannot be censored and silenced. We will win again. Our country cannot tolerate this humiliation anymore.
Facebook has said that after talking to experts, it will be decided when to activate Trump's account so that there is no danger to the public. For this, incidents of violence and breaches of the peace will be taken into account.
Twitter has banned Trump forever
Violence broke out outside the US Parliament Capitol Hill on January 6, following the results of the US presidential election. During this, Trump was accused of provoking his supporters. Due to this, the next day i.e. on January 7, other social media platforms including Facebook took action against Trump. Trump's account was also suspended by Facebook's company Instagram and Google's platform YouTube. On the other hand, Twitter has banned Trump forever.
Trump's response came even after the social media companies took action in January. He had said that next time he would not invite CEOs of social media companies to dinner. Trump had said that there will no longer be dinner at the White House with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. They will only talk about business. After this Zuckerberg said in a post that allowing the President to use our services is a very big risk at this time.
