The Covifenz vaccine is the first corona vaccine made in Canada. It is made by Mitsubishi Chemical based in Quebec City and Philip Morris-owned biopharma companies Medicago and GlaxoSmithKline. With this, it has become the world's first such corona vaccine, which has been prepared from plant-based protein.

Who will get the vaccine?

Currently, in Canada, it will be applied to people between the ages of 18 and 64. According to the government, research is going on to know the effect of the vaccine on people below 18 years and above 64 years of age. This vaccine will be given in two doses. The second dose will be given 21 days after the first dose.

How effective is the Coviphene vaccine?

The Covifenz vaccine is 71% effective against all variants of the corona in people aged 18 to 64 years. Also, it is 75% effective against the dangerous Delta variant.

How was the Covifenz vaccine prepared?

The vaccines available against corona in the world so far were made from mRNA technology or viral vectors or inactivated coronavirus. But CoviFenge is different from all this. This vaccine is made using plant-based virus-like particles (VLP).

This means the Coviphenz vaccine uses plant-based proteins to create particles in our bodies that are similar to the virus particles. Based on this, antibodies are formed in the body and our immune system gets stronger.

Vaccine side effects

According to experts, there can be many side effects of Covifenz vaccine, such as-

sore throat

Cough

Joint pain

muscle pain
