He was so humiliated in the Hurriyat Conference that he got fed up with the post of Chairman of the Hurriyat Conference and also shunned separatist politics. The Pakistani intelligence agency has completely sidelined all the leaders of Hurriyat sitting in Jammu and Kashmir and Ghulam Kashmir who were supporters of radical Geelani. Geelani died on 2 September.
