Today is an important day for about 50 thousand people of Haldwani in Uttarakhand. A hearing will be held in the Supreme Court today against the order of the High Court to remove illegal encroachment from railway land in Banbhulpura and Gafoor Basti. Today the Supreme Court will decide whether bulldozers will run on the houses built on railway land in Haldwani or not.

The high court has given the order to remove the encroachment

Railway claims that it has the illegal occupation of 78 acres of land. 4365 kutcha-pucca houses have been built on railway land. On December 20, the High Court ordered the removal of illegal encroachments on railway land. Prohibitory orders will be implemented in Banbhulpura, a Muslim-dominated area, even before demolishing the encroachment. Along with this, 14 company paramilitary force, five companies RPF and RF including PAC and heavy police force will be deployed everywhere.

Police deposited licensed weapons

Because of the tension, there will be a ban on the arrival or gathering of common people with weapons by the police. Police have also collected licensed weapons from 216 people in the area. Nainital SSP Pankaj Bhatt said that the order of the High Court is being followed. Preparations are complete.

picketing of various organizations

Several organizations staged a sit-in at Buddha Park on Wednesday in support of the affected families. Organizations said that keeping in mind the human and moral aspects, the state government should intervene. Outsiders associated with various Muslim organizations including Congress, SP, and BSP have also started reaching here. SP's delegation reached Banbhulpura on Wednesday on the instructions of SP's National President Akhilesh Yadav. People were met for two hours under the leadership of Moradabad MP ST Hasan. He said the issue would be raised in Parliament. If needed, a delegation of local people will also be made to meet the Railway Minister and the PM.

Railway land is 50 years old

It is said that encroachment on railway land in Banbhulpura and Gafoor Basti started 50 years ago. The encroachment has now spread over 78 acres of railway land. The locals claim that they have been living here for more than 50 years. All the facilities like voter cards, Aadhaar cards, ration cards, electricity, water, road, school, etc. have been given to them by the governments only. People are also taking advantage of all government schemes. People have also benefited from PM Awas Yojana. It is claimed that they also pay tax to the Municipal Corporation. There is majority of the Muslim population in these.

Even in 2007, the order was given to remove the encroachment

Even in the year 2007, the High Court had ordered the removal of encroachment from the railway land. The matter had also reached the Supreme Court. After this, a public interest litigation was filed in the High Court in 2013. On the instructions of the High Court, the hearing started in 2018 in the State Estate Officer, North Eastern Railway, Izzatnagar Division. According to the Railways, during the hearing of 4,365 encroachment cases, no one could show solid evidence regarding encroachment possession. No land-related documents were found with anyone.
