History created: Russian film crew returns to Earth after shooting the first movie in space; 40 minutes long scene shot in 12 days

A Russian film crew returned to Earth on Sunday after creating history for the first time a movie was shot in space. The crew, which spent 12 days in space on the International Space Station (ISS) to shoot a scene in the film 'Challenge', includes actress Yulia Peresild and director Klim Shipenko, while they are back with Veteran Cosmonaut Olen Nowitsky. have returned, who was present on the ISS for 191 days.

The Space Shuttle of this crew took off from the space station at 6.45 am (Indian time) on Sunday and made a successful landing in Kazakhstan about three and a half hours later at 10.05 am. The entire crew is said to be safe after landing.

Will make recovery in Kazakhstan only
All three were taken by a Russian helicopter to a recovery center in the city of Karaganda, Kazakhstan. Where, after recovering from the fatigue of space travel, he will be taken by plane to the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia, where he will be examined.

Went to ISS on 5 October
Earlier, Peresild (37) and Shipenko (38) had reached the ISS on 5 October for the shooting. At that time, the US space agency NASA said in a Twitter post that Yulia Peresild and Klim Shipenko, along with astronaut Anton Shkaplerov, took off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on October 5 at 2:25 pm Indian time for the International Space Station.

The crew was launched to the ISS from the Soyuz MS-18 spacecraft by Russia's space agency Roscosmos.

35-minute long scene shot in space
The film's team was given training for the shooting of 'Challenge'. To shoot different scenes of 'Challenge', the film team also filmed a 35-40 minute long sequence on the ISS while spending 12 days in space.

The film tells the story of a female doctor who flies to the International Space Station to rescue an astronaut who needs urgent surgery in space. Cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov, who were on the ISS, also made cameo roles in this scene of the film.

Russia overtakes Tom Cruise
With the shooting of the movie 'Challenge', Russia has overtaken Hollywood veteran Tom Cruise, who announced the shooting of a film in space in 2020 in collaboration with NASA and Elon Musk's company Space X. However, this competition between Russia and America in space is not new.

In the days of the Cold War, both countries have been trying to outdo each other on space projects. While Russia succeeded in launching the first spacecraft and sending an animal into space first, America made history by landing the first astronaut on the moon.
