There has been chaos in Pakistan's Balochistan after the hijacking of 'Jafar Express' going from Quetta to Peshawar. 155 passengers held hostage in the train by suspected Baloch terrorists in the troubled Balochistan province were rescued and 27 terrorists were killed. Security officials gave this information.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Jafar Express, carrying about 400 passengers in nine bogies, was going from Quetta to Peshawar when armed men stopped it in a tunnel near the hilly areas of Gudlar and Piru Kunri. The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) later claimed responsibility for the attack. Security sources confirmed that they were able to rescue 104 passengers, including women and children, in the ongoing shootout with the terrorists.
31 women and 15 children released
A source said, "27 terrorists have been killed and many others injured in the firing that is still going on." He said that the cleaning operation would continue until all the passengers were evacuated from the train. The source said that the rescued passengers included 58 men, 31 women, and 15 children, who had been sent to Mach (a town in Kachhi district of Pakistan's Balochistan province) by another train.
How was the Pakistani train hijacked?
As soon as the Peshawar-bound train entered the tunnel, the Baloch rebels lying in ambush attacked it.
The area where this tunnel is located is a very inaccessible mountainous area, the nearest station of which is Paharo Kunri.
The terrorists have now formed small groups to try to escape in the darkness, but the security forces have surrounded the tunnel and the remaining passengers will also be rescued soon.
Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said that the security forces had earlier managed to rescue 80 passengers, including 43 men, 26 women, and 11 children.
The train was stopped in tunnel number 8. As soon as the train stopped in the tunnel, the Baloch Army fighters hijacked the Jaffar Express, and the passengers were taken hostage.
Problems in the rescue operation
District Police Officer of Bolan Rana Muhammad Dilawar says in this case that this entire area is hilly, which is filled with tunnels. He told that the hijacked train is currently standing in Bolan Pass. This entire area is surrounded by hills and tunnels, due to which there is no mobile network. Due to this, there are difficulties in the rescue operation.
