Team India won by five wickets in the fourth match of the ongoing five-match Test series against England. With this victory, India has taken an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series. Yashasvi Jaiswal has performed brilliantly against England so far. He has played two half-centuries along with two consecutive double-centuries against the opposing team. With this, he has joined the club of legendary cricketer Don Bradman.
The young batsman, who made his Test debut for India during the West Indies tour last year, has played eight Test matches so far. He scored 971 runs in his 15 innings, becoming the second batsman in the world to do so. Australian cricketer Don Bradman has scored 1210 runs in 14 innings of the first eight test matches.
Gavaskar left behind
The 23-year-old batsman has overtaken former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar by scoring more than 800 runs in the first eight Test matches. Gavaskar scored 938 runs in the first eight Test matches. He is included at number four in this list. At the third place is the name of West Indies star cricketer Everton Weeks who scored 968 runs in 11 innings. At the same time, Pakistani batsman Saud Shakeel is the fifth batsman to be included in this list with 927 runs in 15 innings.
Yashasvi joins a special club
Yashasvi also became the fifth player for India to score 600 or more runs in a Test series. Kohli, Sunil Gavaskar, and Rahul Dravid have done this twice each in their career. Apart from these, Dilip Sardesai has also crossed the mark of 600 runs in a test series. Jaiswal has scored 655 runs in four matches.
Successful in Bradman-Sobers club
Yashasvi is not even 23 years old yet. He became the seventh player to score 600 or more runs in a Test series before turning 23. Before him, Don Bradman of Australia, Gary Sobers of the West Indies, Sunil Gavaskar, Graeme Smith of South Africa, George Hadlee of the West Indies, and Neil Harvey of Australia have achieved this feat.
