IND vs SA: Arshdeep's magic was seen in the last ODI of the year for India, joined Lee's club, and lagged in profit

India defeated South Africa in the third ODI and won the series 2-1. This was India's second bilateral ODI series win against South Africa at home. Earlier, Team India had defeated South Africa 5-1 in 2017/18. Apart from Sanju Samson's century, Tilak Verma's half-century and Arshdeep Singh played an important role in India's victory. Arshdeep even made a special record in his name by taking four wickets and joined the club of some other great bowlers including Brett Lee. Besides, Munaf Patel was also left behind in a case.

 

Actually, after losing the toss and batting first, India scored 296 runs losing eight wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the African team was reduced to 218 runs in 45.5 overs. Arshdeep took four wickets for 30 runs in nine overs. He took four or more wickets for the second time in this series. He took five wickets in the first ODI. Arshdeep took a total of 10 wickets in the series, which is the second most in the three-match bilateral ODI series against South Africa. Ahead of him is only Munaf Patel, who took 11 wickets in the three-match bilateral ODI series against South Africa in 2010/11.

In this case, along with Arshdeep, West Indies' Keith Arthurton, Australia's Brett Lee, India's Yuzvendra Chahal, and Kuldeep Yadav are in joint form. Arshdeep has jointly reached second place in terms of taking four or more wickets (twice) in ODIs against South Africa. Ahead of them are Chahal and Kuldeep, who have done this three times each.

Arshdeep took five wickets for 37 runs in the first ODI, which is the best bowling figure by an Indian fast bowler in an ODI against South Africa. Now Arshdeep's four wickets for 30 runs in the third ODI against South Africa is the fifth-best bowling figures by an Indian fast bowler against the Proteas. Apart from Arshdeep, Avesh Khan and Washington Sundar took two wickets each. Whereas, Mukesh Kumar and Akshar Patel got one wicket each. For South Africa, Tony De Georgi scored 81 runs in 87 balls. At the same time, captain Aiden Markram played an inning of 36 runs in 41 balls.

Earlier, while batting for India, Samson had scored 108 runs in 114 balls with the help of six fours and three sixes. Apart from this, Tilak Verma had scored 52 runs in 77 balls with the help of five fours and one six. Rinku Singh had played an innings of 38 runs in 27 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes. Beuron Hendricks took three wickets for South Africa. Whereas, Nandre Berger got two wickets. Lizard Williams, Vian Mulder, and Keshav Maharaj got one wicket each. Indian team won a total of 27 ODIs in the year 2023. He remained three wins away from equaling Australia's record and four wins away from breaking the record. Australia won 30 ODIs in 2003.
