Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar has been found infected with Corona. He was included in the 18-man squad for the ODI series against South Africa. However, now after Sundar got infected, there has been a doubt about his playing ODI series. According to a report, he will not leave for South Africa. However, there is no official confirmation from the BCCI yet on whether Sundar is infected. The ODI series between India and South Africa is starting from January 19.
The 22-year-old spinner was supposed to leave for Cape Town along with the rest of the players on Wednesday, but now he may be stopped from going to South Africa. According to the report of Cricbuzz, Sundar had come to Corona positive a few days back. He was in Bengaluru when he was found infected and was not associated with the rest of the players in Mumbai. The team is scheduled to leave for Cape Town on Wednesday morning from Mumbai itself.
According to the report, the BCCI has not announced any replacement at the moment. A board official told Cricbuzz that Sundar has tested positive for Corona and will not leave for the South Africa tour. Apart from Sundar, there are two more spinners in the Indian team for the South Africa tour. It includes Yuzvendra Chahal and Ravichandran Ashwin.
Sundar has been away from international cricket for the last 10 months. He played his last match in March 2021. After that, he was injured. Recently he was included in the Tamil Nadu squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. After a good performance in this, Sundar was included in the ODI squad for the tour of South Africa.
