As the festival of Diwali is approaching, the number of passengers is seen increasing at the railway stations. To deal with the problems arising out of the increasing congestion at the stations, Indian Railways has taken several measures to control and regulate the crowd at the stations. The Ministry of Railways says that as far as possible, all efforts are being made to run the trains smoothly. Passengers will be informed about the platform numbers in advance. The platforms of any train will not be changed at n time. All rakes including special trains will be brought to the platform at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure.

The ministry further said that regular monitoring is being done through a dedicated WhatsApp group. All escalators have been fixed at railway stations so that passengers do not face any problems. Mini Control Rooms (06.00 hrs to 24.00 hrs) have been set up at terminal stations with a staff of Operations, Commercial, Mechanical, Engineering, Electrical, RPF, and Medical. The mini-control rooms built by the Railways have facilities like telephone, train information, panel room connectivity, CCTV feeds of platforms, and circulating areas.

Proper Train Inquiry System and Announcement System have been improved so that passengers do not face any problems at the station. Apart from this, all train information boards have been installed, which will show updated information. Apart from this, railway hospitals and dispensaries near railway stations have been directed to be prepared in case of any possible untoward incident at stations. The posting of the doctor will be from 06.00 hrs to 24.00 hrs. Doctors will be available 24 hours a day on short notice at all major stations as well as terminal stations.
