Sitrang Cyclone: Beware! The coming storm of Sitrang, Odisha, and Bengal governments started preparations

Cyclone Sitrang can knock in the Bay of Bengal in the next few days. The Odisha and Bengal governments have started the work of evacuating people from the coastal areas because of the threat of storms.

 

The Meteorological Department said on Friday that there may be heavy rain in Odisha next week. This possibility has been made due to the effect of the storm of Sitrang. This cyclone can turn towards West Bengal and Bangladesh, passing close to Odisha. According to the tradition of naming storms, this time it was Thailand's turn and it has suggested its name as Sitrang. Given the possible danger, the Bengal and Odisha governments have started the work of sending people from low-lying areas of many districts to safer places.

 

 

According to IMD, the weather system is currently located as a low-pressure area over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. It may further intensify into a depression on Saturday and into a deep depression on Sunday before intensifying into a cyclonic storm on Monday. Thereafter, it will move in the north and northeast direction towards West Bengal and Bangladesh.

 

Odisha Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Malik said that instructions have been issued to all the district and coastal area officials to deal with any situation. There is a possibility of heavy rainfall as it crosses parallel to the state's coast on Monday. The personnel of the Fire Department, ODRAF, and NDRF are ready for any emergency.

 

On the other hand, a senior West Bengal official said that the government has started the process of shifting people from low-lying areas of East Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, and Sunderbans to safer places. Leaves of all district collectors and superintendents of police of the respective districts canceled. have been done. They have been asked to be prepared to deal with any emergency.
