Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju signed the bilateral Hajj Agreement for 2026 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Under this agreement, India's Hajj quota has been fixed at 175,025 pilgrims. "An important step in India-Saudi Arabia relations. Bilateral agreement signed for Hajj 2026. A Hajj quota of 175,025 pilgrims has been secured for Indian pilgrims. Both countries share a commitment to ensure a safe and smooth journey for all Hajj pilgrims," ​​Rijiju wrote on the social media platform X.

Rijiju was on a visit to Saudi Arabia from November 7 to 9, where he held bilateral meetings with Saudi Arabia's Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah. During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed Hajj-related preparations and discussed ways to further improve travel, accommodation, and healthcare facilities for pilgrims.

 

 

According to an official statement, a bilateral agreement for Hajj 2026 was signed between India and Saudi Arabia following the meeting. Both countries resolved to ensure a safe, smooth, and spiritual experience for Indian pilgrims.

 

 

Inspected Hajj-related facilities

Kiren Rijiju inspected Hajj and Umrah-related facilities in Jeddah and Taif, including Terminal 1 and Haramain Station at Jeddah Airport. He also met with officials from the Indian Mission and Embassy in Jeddah and Riyadh and commended their preparations.
