The 14th season of IPL has been postponed due to Corona infection. BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla gave this information at around 1.15 pm on Tuesday. He said that the tournament has been suspended at the moment. We will see if it can be completed further. It is clear from this statement that the remaining 31 matches of the IPL can be re-scheduled. This decision has been taken after several players came positive in two days.

The BCCI took this decision after 4 players from 3 teams, 1 coach and 2 other staff got corona infected in two days. On Monday, Varun Chakraborty and Sandeep Warrier of KKR came positive. Also, CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji and two other staff were infected. On Tuesday, Wriddhiman Saha of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Amit Mishra of Delhi Capitals also turned positive.

BCCI lost 2 thousand crores

IPL has been postponed. If it is canceled altogether, the board will incur a loss of around 2000 crores. Also, the T20 World Cup to be hosted in India this year will be under threat. Hosting from India can be snatched away. BCCI will also suffer the loss of crores.

BCCI will try its best to return players safely

The BCCI has said in its statement, "We tried to bring some positiveness and enthusiasm to the people by organizing the league. But, it is now clear that the tournament has been postponed and all the people associated with the league will return to their families in this challenging time. ‌‌BCCI will do everything according to its capacity for the safe return of all the members participating in the league.
