Iran calls for lifting of US sanctions as nuclear talks begin

Posted on 30th Nov 2021 06:02 pm by rohit kumar

Iran on Tuesday made it clear that the issues discussed during the earlier diplomatic talks should be renegotiated as Iran seeks to lift all US sanctions, a day after renegotiated talks in Vienna on its nuclear deal. is demanding. Iran's state media reported that Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Bakri and the country's civilian nuclear chief Mohammad Islami had said this.

Significantly, under Iran's nuclear deal in 2015, Iran had to limit uranium enrichment to lift economic sanctions. But in 2018, the US pulled out of the agreement during the tenure of the then US President Donald Trump. Since then the deal was shelved. Iran has achieved 60 percent uranium enrichment capacity and has moved closer to achieving the 90 percent uranium enrichment capacity needed to build a nuclear warhead.

On Iran's state television, Bakri described the previous round of talks as only drafts. "Drafts should also be discussed," he said. Therefore, no consensus can be expressed until all issues are agreed upon. Thus, all the discussions held in the six rounds should be summarized and discussed. In today's meeting also all the parties accepted this point.

Another TV program showed that in Vienna, Bakri said Iran had sought US guarantees not to impose new sanctions and re-impose previous sanctions. Islami reiterated this demand while talking to Iran's government-run news agency. "The talks going on in Vienna are about America's withdrawal from the nuclear deal," he said. They have to remove all restrictions.
