Jaipur, March 23 (IANS) Rebel BJP leader Jaswant Singh's son and legislator Manvendra Singh has cited poor health to ask one month's leave from the party, a party leader said Sunday.

A BJP member of the Rajasthan assembly, Manvendra Singh is also unlikely to attend a meeting called by Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje of legislators from Barmer and Jaisalmer Lok Sabha constituencies.

"Manvendra Singh has sought one month's leave from the party saying he is sick and requires bed rest," state BJP president Ashok Parnami told IANS.

A source in the BJP added: "He is unlikely to attend the meeting called by the chief minister to work out a strategy for the Lok Sabha election."

Manvendra Singh represents Shiv assembly constituency in Barmer district.

Jaswant Singh, a senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, has raised a banner of revolt after being refused ticket to contest the Lok Sabha polls from Barmer.

He is expected to file his nomination as an independent from Barmer.
