Patna, April 5 (IANS) Bihar's ruling party JD-U Saturday promised reservation for SCs, STs and OBCs in the private sector and 50 percent reservation for women in panchayati raj institutions, among other things, in its election manifesto.
The manifesto promised legislation for the safety and security of migrant workers in the country, a commission to study the socio-economic condition of poor upper caste people at the national level and a special category status for all backward states like Bihar.
It also pledged zero tolerance against corruption, communal hatred and communal forces.
The Janata Dal-United's manifesto was released by party president Sharad Yadav and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar here.
Sharad Yadav said corruption and communalism are two big challenges before the country. "We are committed to fight against both," he said.
He said BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is trying to exploit people's emotions in his election meetings.
Nitish Kumar said the party will replicate Bihar's successful implementation of women reservation at the national level.
