Congress government survived because of CBI: Modi

New Delhi, April 17 (IANS) BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi Thursday accused the Congress of misusing constitutional institutions and said their government would not have survived without CBI.

In a jibe at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi, Modi also said that he was engrossed in "toffees and balloons".

"They (Congress) do not care about democracy, they just want to be in power. That is why institutions are misused," Modi said addressing a 3D rally, using holographic technique.

The 3D rally was the third in the series and telecast across several states.

"They cannot deny their government survived only because of CBI. Every time they had to prove their strength in parliament, CBI would do the job," he alleged.

Attacking Gandhi, Modi said: "The 'shehzada' (prince) is out of the race, that is why his mother had to come out on the field. The prince must be busy in balloons and toffees."

Referring to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's televised message in which she said BJP will ruin the essence of "Bharatiyata" and "Hindustaniyat", he called it "paid news".

"Congress party sent across a paid news. News slots were bought and madam Sonia addressed the nation," he said.
