Biparjoy: This storm has created havoc in India, this cyclone that came 24 years ago had killed about 10,000 people.

The severe cyclonic storm 'Biparjoy' made landfall from the sea through the Jakhau coast in Kutch, Gujarat. With this, the devastation started and the wind speed reached up to 125 kmph. Due to the cyclone, there was heavy rain in many areas including Mandvi, Devbhoomi Dwarka. In Bhavnagar, a father and son died after drowning in a water-filled drain. Three people have been injured in Dwarka due to falling trees. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the center of the cyclone (I) is spread over a radius of about 50 km. This shows its seriousness.

 

People were evacuated to safer places from the 8 coastal districts of Gujarat most affected by the storm. Of these, the maximum number of 46,800 people are from Kutch. It is followed by 10,749 Devbhoomi Dwarka, 9,942 from Jamnagar, 9,243 Morbi, 6,822 Rajkot, 4,864 from Junagadh, 4,379 Porbandar and 1,605 people from Gir Somnath district. Of the total displaced, 8,900 are children, 1,131 are pregnant women and 4,697 are elderly.

 

Cyclone made landfall in Saurashtra-Kutch and Karachi in Pakistan

 

The cyclone continued to move at a speed of 12 kmph before hitting the coast. Later the speed was increased to 15 km per hour. It hit the land in Saurashtra-Kutch and Karachi in Pakistan.

 

1,521 shelter homes were built in 8 districts for the displaced. 1.25 lakh food packets were also prepared.

Flights from Jamnagar Airport have been suspended till Friday.

 

99 trains canceled: Western Railway canceled 23 more trains. So far 99 trains have been completed and 39 partially cancelled.

 

Due to 'Biparjoy', the coastal areas including Mumbai's Gateway of India witnessed rough seas. Several feet of high waves are rising in Mumbai.

 

When did devastating storms come to the first country?

2021: More than 100 people died due to the Taute storm in May. Most of them were killed in Gujarat. Apart from this, many people were also reported missing due to the extremely severe cyclone. Taute hit the coast of Gujarat with a wind speed of 210 kmph.

 

2019: Cyclone Fani in May killed about 100 people. Cyclone Fani, the strongest cyclone to hit India in five years, hit Odisha. It is said that if 12 lakh people had not been evacuated before the cyclone hit, many more would have died.

 

2014: In October, the Hudhud storm that arose from the Bay of Bengal and its effects caused havoc in Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. It also made a big impact in Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Haryana. 25 people died due to this storm.

 

2010: A fierce cyclone that came at a speed of 125 km in West Bengal, Bihar, and Assam killed 120 people and injured more than 200 people. This cyclone knocked in April.

 

1999: A 'super cyclonic storm' crossed the Odisha coast near Paradip with a wind speed of 260 km per hour, killing 9,885 and injuring 2,142 in October.

 

1998: An 'extremely severe cyclonic storm' crossed the Gujarat coast near Porbandar with a wind speed of 167 kmph. Due to the storm that knocked in June, 1,173 people died and 1,774 people went missing.
