Ranchi, March 19 (IANS) Jharkhand Speaker Shashanka Shekhar Bhokta Wednesday said he may take suo motu action against legislators who have switched sides to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"No party has informed about legislators changing sides to fight the polls. I can take suo motu action as it comes under anti-defection law of the constitution," Bhokta told reporters in Deoghar.
Two legislators from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, two from smaller parties and one from the Congress who were supporting the Hemant Soren government in the state have switched to the Trinamool Congress or the Bharatiya Janata Party to contest the polls.
Elections to 14 Lok Sabha seats from the state are to be held in three-phases on April 10, 17 and 24. The state last elected its assembly in November 2009.
