Professor Shantisree D Pandit, an alumnus of Jawaharlal Nehru University and the first woman Vice-Chancellor, said that JNU will now conduct studies in Indian languages from the academic session 2023-24 along with foreign languages. For this, a Special Center for Indian Languages will be set up on the JNU campus. At present, the Tamil Nadu government has agreed to set up a Tamil chair in this center by giving 10 crores. Apart from this, the governments of Maharashtra, Assam, Karnataka, Punducherry, and Odisha also want to establish a chair.

The Vice-Chancellor has set a target of collecting Rs 500 crore through four mediums during his tenure. The special thing is that from the next session, JNU will also start online certificate and diploma courses in various courses under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 to increase funds and betterment of society. A roadmap has also been prepared for this.

The Vice-Chancellor admitted that JNU is short of funds and has no means of earning. The Vice-Chancellor said that along with foreign languages, Indian languages will also be taught at JNU. For this, a special center for the Indian language will be established. Talks are on with various state governments for this.

At present, the Tamil Nadu Government has agreed to provide Rs 10 crore each for the establishment of the Tamil Chair, and the Maharashtra Government has agreed to set up the Maratha Chair. Whereas the governments of Odisha, Karnataka, Puducherry, and Assam will also set up their chairs.

Alumni will now be able to transfer money directly: Vice Chancellor said that JNU alumni will be connected on the lines of IIT. For this, together with SBI Bank, such a system will be prepared, so that funds can be directly transferred to the account through the portal.

JNU will conduct Ph.D. exam itself

The Vice-Chancellor said that from the next session, the university itself will take over the responsibility of conducting the entrance examination for admission to the Ph.D. This year the responsibility of the Ph.D. admission entrance examination has been handed over to the National Testing Agency (NTA), but in the next academic session, the Ph.D. admission entrance examination will be conducted by the university administration itself on the old pattern of JNU. However, admission to undergraduate programs will be based on the merit of CUET UG conducted by NTA. No changes would have been made to it.

JNU will soon get a new security

The Vice-Chancellor said that tenders have been issued for the new security company in JNU. It is expected that soon the new security company will be given the responsibility of campus security. At the same time, it has been decided to install CCTVs because of security, but CCTVs will be installed only after the consent of the students and teachers. It would be wrong to interfere with anyone's privacy.
