Udhayanidhi had commented on Sanatan Dharma at a program organized in Chennai on Saturday. However, he later clarified by sharing a post on the social media platform 'X'.

He had said, "I did not appeal for the genocide of those who follow Sanatan Dharma. Sanatan Dharma is a principle that divides people in the name of caste and religion. Rooting out Sanatan Dharma upholds humanity and equality. Yes. I stand firmly by every word I have said."
