Gautam Navlakha's detention order extended till February 17 in the Elgar Parishad case

Social activist Gautam Navlakha, who has been under house arrest since November in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist link case, has not got relief from the Supreme Court even today. A bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagaratna extended its interim order on Navlakha till February 17. The apex court had on November 18 ordered that Navlakha be placed under house arrest within 24 hours and ordered some additional security measures at the building where the activist would be kept under house arrest. While alleging discrepancies in Navlakha's medical report issued by Jaslok Hospital, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had said that he was given proper treatment when required and his condition was fine in the premises of Taloja Central Jail.
