Rohit Sharma : 'The wicket on which he grew up playing, had to play well there', Rohit gave a class to Indian batsmen

India got defeated by 21 runs in the third ODI against Australia. With this defeat, Team India also lost the ODI series by 2-1. Captain Rohit Sharma looked very angry after the defeat. In the post-match show, he reprimanded the batsmen fiercely. He attributed the defeat to the incomprehensibility of the batsmen. Team India's defeat has raised questions about the preparations for the World Cup to be held in India this year.

What did Rohit Sharma say after the defeat?

Rohit said after the match – I don't think 269 runs were too many. The wicket got a bit more challenging in the second session. We batted badly. We have grown up playing on these wickets, yet the batsmen got out like this. The batsmen needed to apply what they learned from childhood. After a good start, it was important for a batsman to take the game to the end, but it did not happen. We have played nine ODIs since January, but there have been many positives in it. We need to understand where we need to improve. It is a collective failure and we can learn a lot from this series. The Australian team should be given credit for the win. Both their spinners and the fast bowlers also created pressure.

Lower order reached 270 – Smith

At the same time, Australian captain Steve Smith said – It was a great tour. We fought tremendously after the Delhi Test. The lower order batted brilliantly and took us to 270, otherwise, we were not looking to reach 220 at one stage. It has been a wonderful tour. We didn't play our best cricket but could get win. This wicket was completely different. Our spinners bowled well, really well.

This is the first defeat for Team India after winning 26 home series in all three formats of cricket. Mitchell Marsh, who scored 194 runs in all three ODIs, became the man of the series. At the same time, Adam Zampa was given the Player of the Match award in the third ODI.

Australia made a record by defeating India

Australia broke Team India's domestic supremacy in ODI cricket for the last four years. In the third and deciding ODI, the Australian team defeated India by 21 runs with five balls to spare and sealed the series. This is Australia's eighth overall win against India and sixth ODI series win on Indian soil.

India last lost the last ODI series on their soil in 2019 to Australia. This win must have eased the pain of the 2-1 loss to the visitors in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Thanks to Australia's lower-order batsmen, he scored 269 runs in 49 overs. In response, thanks to the lethal bowling of Adam Zampa (4/45), the Indian team was reduced to 248 runs in 49.1 overs.

Team India derailed after a good start

Chasing a target of 270, Rohit Sharma (30) and Shubman Gill (37) got India off to a flying start. Both shared a half-century partnership in 46 balls, but Rohit caught Starc at square leg off Abbott. Both added 65 runs in 55 balls. After Gill's dismissal, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul (32) added 69 runs for the third wicket. After Rahul's dismissal, Virat (54) completed his half-century, Akshar (2), Suryakumar (0) and Virat himself got out to score 185 for six wickets.

Zampa put a break on Hardik

The responsibility was on Hardik and Ravindra Jadeja. Both played carefully and took the score to 218 runs. Here Smith put Zampa on the attack and he got Hardik, who was looking in good form, caught by Smith on the cover. Hardik wanted to sweep it over midwicket. He scored 40 runs in 40 balls. India needed 45 runs in 30 balls. In his very next over, Zampa dismissed Jadeja (18).

Marsh-head got off to a great start

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Australia got off to a great start with in-form Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head. Both soon completed the half-century partnership in 45 balls. Shami was first hit by Marsh and then by Head for a six in the very beginning. As long as both were on the wicket. It was clear from him that Australia is going to give a challenging score of three hundred in the deciding ODI, but Team India made a comeback as soon as Hardik Pandya came on the bowling. Hardik traps short balls, in which Head gets trapped. Although Gill dropped him at deep mid-wicket at the pull of the head, he was caught at the boundary in the very next over trying to get the short ball over the third man. Marsh and Head shared a 68-run partnership.

Hardik derailed Australia

Full credit goes to Hardik for putting Australia on the back foot. After Head, he dismissed captain Steve Smith without opening the account. It was the fifth time in ODIs and the second time in this series when Hardik dismissed Smith. Hardik bowled the big blow to Marsh. He got out after scoring 47 runs off 47 balls. Due to Hardik, Australia had a score of 88 runs for three wickets in 15 overs.
