Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Thursday warned comedian Kapil Sharma not to call Mumbai 'Bombay' or 'Bambai' in his show. It said that if he does not stop doing so, then a movement will be started.
The warning was given by MNS leader Amey Khopkar
This warning was given by MNS leader Amey Khopkar. This warning came a day after Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray visited the house of his cousin and MNS president Raj Thackeray. There is talk of an alliance between Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS before the local body elections.
Khopkar said that the name of this city is Mumbai
Khopkar said that the name of this city is Mumbai. In Kapil Sharma's show, we have been seeing for a long time that this city is always called Bombay or Bambai. We oppose this. This is not an objection, but anger. The name of this city is Mumbai. If you can call other cities like Chennai, Bengaluru and Kolkata by their real names, then why are you insulting our city.
Khopkar said that I request you to correct the mistake if it has happened by mistake. Whoever comes to your show, be it a celebrity or an anchor, first tell them not to call Mumbai as Bombay or Bambai. They will have to call it Mumbai.
