During the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Uttarakhand, the disaster-affected villagers of Dharali village, who had come to meet him at the State Guest House of Jolly Grant Airport, became very emotional. These people, who had lost everything in that terrible disaster of 5 August, shared their pain in front of the Prime Minister.

Kameshwari Devi, who had come to meet the PM, was so broken by the pain of losing her young son that she could not even say anything. Tears were continuously flowing from her eyes, and she could only say that this disaster had taken away everything from us. Not only the employment of the family was lost, but my elder son Akash was also gone.

Those who met the Prime Minister from Dharali included Gram Pradhan Ajay Negi, BDC representative Sushil Panwar, Mahila Mangal Dal President Sunita Devi, and Kameshwari Devi. All of them described the scene of the devastation of 5 August with moist eyes and choked voice.

Everything was razed to the ground in a moment.

Pradhan Ajay Negi lost many companions, including his cousin, in this disaster, while Sushil Panwar lost his younger brother and his entire family. Mahila Mangal Dal President Sunita Devi's entire life's earnings, her house, homestay, and gardens were all destroyed in a moment. Of the people missing in the disaster, only the body of Kameshwari Devi's son Akash, has been found so far.

Village head Ajay Negi told the media that he submitted a detailed report of every devastation in the village to Prime Minister Modi. He demanded that the Prime Minister to rehabilitate Dharali, give employment to the people again, and waive off agricultural loans. The head said that PM Modi has assured him that the central and state governments are working together for the rehabilitation and employment of the disaster-affected. He also said that every disaster-affected person will be given all possible help. This meeting shows that this disaster has not only caused damage to property, but has also left deep wounds on the hearts of the people.
