The enemies trembled at the sight of Himachal's son.
Himachal's son Param Vir Chakra winner Captain Vikram Batra also made a big contribution to this war. The enemies also trembled at his name. Captain Vikram Batra sacrificed his life fighting the enemies of the country. Vikram Batra, who defeated the enemies, was born on 9th September 1974. Born in Ghuggar village in Palampur of Kangra district, Vikram was known as Shershah by his enemies in the war. His bravery is an example for the country.
How did he get the name Shershah?
Vikram was getting a job in the Merchant Navy in Hong Kong with a good salary, but he chose the Indian Army for the service of the country. On 20 June 1999 at 3.30 am, Captain Batra along with his companions conquered the most important peak 5140, just above the Srinagar-Leh road.
After the victory, Batra gave the message from this peak that 'Ye Dil Mange More'. Later it became popular in the whole country. For his indomitable bravery and valor, Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel YK Joshi gave Vikram the nickname 'Shershah'.
