A big controversy has arisen over the permission of Ganesh Puja at Idgah ground in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. According to the latest information, a large number of police have been deployed around the ground to handle the matter. Meanwhile, the Waqf Board of the state has approached the Supreme Court against it, where the hearing will start in some time. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal had mentioned the matter for urgent hearing. He said that the High Court order would create unnecessary tension. The Division Bench of the Karnataka High Court had allowed the Karnataka government to consider the applications seeking use of the Idgah ground at Chamarajpet and pass appropriate directions.

On the security arrangements made near the Idgah ground, DCP Laxman B. Nimbargi (West Division) said that action is being taken against the miscreants for the last 15 days. Hubli-Dharwad Mayor Eresh Achantgeri announced the decision late Monday night after a long meeting with elected representatives and officials. The mayor said the House committee after consulting legal experts had recommended allowing Ganesh Utsav. It had received 28 memorandums in favor of allowing the festival and 11 against it. He said that after the committee's report and detailed discussion, it was decided to allow the Ganesh festival for three days. The Mayor said that six organizations had sought permission to install the Ganesh idol, out of which one was selected and the rest were requested to cooperate in celebrating the festival in a good manner.
