Kolkata, March 9 (IANS) The Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) elections will be held on April 18 and those to 92 other municipalities in various parts of West Bengal on April 25, the state government said on Monday.
State Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim said the government has got a proposal mentioning the dates from the State Election Commission, which supervises the civic and panchayat polls.
"We have consented to the State Election Commission's recommendations," said Hakim.
The notification for the KMC elections will be issued on March 18. The notification for the polls to the 92 other civic bodies will be published on March 25.
Both the state government and the poll panel would simultaneously issue the notification, said State Election Commissioner S.R Upadhyay.
