Congress stakes claim on Leader of the Opposition post

Maharashtra Congress has called a meeting on Tuesday. In this meeting, the name of the leader of the opposition can be discussed. Congress Secretary HK Patil will also be present at this meeting. Significantly, the NCP has appointed Jitendra Awhad as the Leader of the Opposition after Ajit Pawar joined the Shiv Sena-BJP government. However, Sharad Pawar said on Monday that the Congress's claim on the post of Leader of Opposition is correct.

Congress became the largest opposition party

Maharashtra Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said that the NCP can now appoint only its leader of the opposition. Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said that after deciding how many MLAs are with Sharad Pawar, the Leader of the Opposition will be elected. Explain that in terms of numbers, the largest opposition party gets the post of Leader of the Opposition. The NCP has 53 MLAs, while the Congress has 45. After the rebellion of Ajit Pawar, now the number of MLAs in NCP has come down to 44. There is talk of many of these going with Ajit Pawar. In such a situation, Congress has become the biggest opposition party in Maharashtra. After which the party has also started preparations to appoint its leader to the post of Leader of Opposition.
