Malegaon blast case: The Victims' family will challenge the verdict in the High Court; Lawyer Shahid said - did not get justice

Lawyer Shahid Nadeem, representing the victim families, said that he will soon challenge the decision to acquit the seven accused in the High Court. He said, We will independently file an appeal. Lawyer Nadeem said, It is sad that we were waiting for the decision for 17 years. But it is not the fault of the victims that they were acquitted. They just suffered. The victims had come from Malegaon to show their wounds, and the court gave the benefit of the doubt because the agency, ATS, and the government failed. The victims have no role in this. The court has accepted that the blast took place, and has also given compensation for it.

Lawyer Nadeem said that the court has accepted that the money was not used for the bomb blast, but it has also accepted that the bomb blast took place. At the same time, the other side has been claiming that the blast did not take place.

If all the accused are acquitted, then who is responsible for the blast: Azmi

Feroze Ahmed Azmi, in charge of Kul Jamaat-e-Tanzim, an organization helping the victim families, expressed displeasure over the acquittal of seven accused. He asked if they were not involved in the incident, then who is responsible for it? This decision has shocked us, because the people who died did not get justice. Azmi said, after the blast, we always demanded that the agencies work in the right direction. The then Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) chief Hemant Karkare conducted a proper investigation, and the case was established against these accused. He provided all the evidence against them. But the court's decision has failed to provide justice to the people killed in the incident.

Maharashtra government should itself go to the High Court against the decision: Imtiaz.

At the same time, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Imtiaz Jaleel demanded that the Maharashtra government challenge the decision of acquitting seven accused in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blast case in the Bombay High Court. He also cited the recent acquittal of all 12 people by the Bombay High Court in the 2006 Mumbai train blast case. Jaleel said that the accused in the train bomb blasts languished in jail for 19 years. After being acquitted, the state government said the verdict is not acceptable. If the accused in both the cases (Malegaon and Mumbai train bomb blasts) are innocent, then who was responsible for plotting the blasts? He said the acquittal order should be reviewed without any kind of prejudice based on religion or caste.

This is a disappointing verdict: Owaisi.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MP Asaduddin Owaisi expressed disappointment over the verdict. He wrote in a social media post, Six Namazis were killed and about 100 injured in the blast. They were targeted because of their religion. Even after 17 years of the blast, the court acquitted all the accused due to a lack of evidence. Deliberately shoddy investigation/prosecution is responsible for the acquittal of the accused. "Will the Modi and Fadnavis governments appeal against this verdict, just as they sought a stay on the acquittal of the accused in the Mumbai train blasts? Will the "secular" political parties of Maharashtra demand accountability? Who killed those six people?" Owaisi asked.
