What Surya Said

"Scoring a high number of runs during the Powerplay is nothing new. The period between the 7th and 10th overs is the prime time to seize control of the match. The way all the bowlers shouldered responsibility—they displayed tremendous spirit. We witnessed some highly aggressive batting in this contest. Just a few days ago, we posted a total of 244 runs, yet Hyderabad managed to chase it down. Chasing a target of 229 runs required a solid start. Our batsmen remained in control throughout the innings. The way Naman Dhir and the rest of the team batted towards the end was simply magnificent." — Suryakumar Yadav, Acting Captain, Mumbai Indians

Match Summary

As for the match itself, the Lucknow Super Giants batted first and posted a score of 228/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, the Mumbai Indians successfully chased down the target in 18.4 overs, losing just four wickets in the process. Openers Rohit Sharma (84) and Ryan Rickelton (83) played pivotal roles in guiding Mumbai to victory.

This marks the third victory in 10 matches for the five-time IPL champions, the Mumbai Indians; with a total of 6 points, they currently occupy the 9th position on the points table. Meanwhile, this marked Lucknow's seventh defeat in nine matches, and they currently sit in last place.
