Modi said that through this network, people of Andaman and Nicobar will get cheap and fast internet service. It is also proposed to build a port in Great Nicobar for 10 thousand crores to increase trade.

The cost of laying 2300 km of cable came to Rs 1224 crore. Its foundation was laid by Modi in 2018. The cable can also connect Swaraj Island, Little Andaman, Car Nicobar, Commodore, Great Nicobar, Long Island, and Rangat to Port Blair.
