State Health Minister Veena George gave this information on Thursday. He said that the suspected patient with monkeypox has been admitted to the hospital. Symptoms of monkeypox were seen in this person after returning from abroad. The blood sample has been sent to the National Institute of Virology for testing. This disease can be confirmed only after the test report comes. Minister George, without giving further details about the patient, said that the man had symptoms of monkeypox and was in close contact with a monkeypox patient abroad.

The virus spreads from animals to humans

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), monkeypox is a viral zoonosis (a virus transmitted from animal to human). It has symptoms similar to those seen in patients with smallpox in the past. However, it is less severe in terms of treatment.
