New Delhi: Coronavirus cases are seen to be increasing rapidly in India and there are record cases of infections every day, while between 500-600 people are dying every day due to this infection. In such a situation, that scary question has started to rise again, which till now the government was refusing. Has community transmission or community spread started in India?
The Indian Medical Association (IMA), India's highest medical institution, has given its answer on its behalf. The IMA believes that the country has reached this position. In such a situation, it is important to know that what is a community spread?
There are 4 stages of infection or spread of any unknown viral disease. There are also 4 stages in the case of the coronavirus.
First Stage- In this, the source of the disease is known. That is, where did the disease start, and to whom did the disease spread? Generally, these people have some travel history. By tracing such people and the people they come in contact with, it spreads to fewer people.
Second stage- In this stage, such people are infected, who have a travel history of any place of infection, and then due to them, the infection starts spreading to their family, nearby people as well. In this case, contact tracing has the biggest role and steps like Containment Zone or Local Lockdown are taken. This is called local transmission.
Third stage- In this stage, infection is found in many people simultaneously in one place. In this, not only the travel history or the people who come in contact are infected, but also the infection spreads in such people, who have not come in contact with anyone. In this case, tracing the virus means that contact tracing is not possible. The same situation is community transmission of community spread.
According to the IMA, India has now reached this third stage, where many cases of infections are coming together in many areas.
Fourth Stage - This is the last and the most dangerous stage of infection. Upon reaching this situation, this disease takes the form of an epidemic in that area and there is a surprising boom in the cases of infection. Also, the number of people who die also starts increasing simultaneously. In this stage, the disease is considered to be completely spread in that region or in that country.
What did IMA say on community transmission?
IMA Hospital Board of India Chairman Dr. VK Monga believes that India has now reached the dangerous third stage of the disease. He said, "Corona is now growing at an alarming pace. Every day the number of cases is coming to more than 30,000. This is a really bad situation for the country.
Along with this, the IMA also expressed concern about the spread of Corona to rural areas. Dr. VK Monga said that a lot of factors are associated with it, but overall it is now spreading in rural areas. This is a bad sign. This shows that the community spread of Corona has started in the country.
