NEET PG 2021: Demand for special counseling rejected in Supreme Court, said- Compromising on quality of medical education is not right

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a bunch of petitions seeking Special Stray Vacancy counseling rounds to fill up 1,456 seats in NEET-PG-21 which remained vacant after the conduct of a round of counseling for All India Quota. have gone. The apex court said that the decision of the government and the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) not to conduct the Special Stray Vacancy counseling round is in the interest of medical education and public health. The bench said that when the central government and the MCC have taken a conscious decision not to conduct a particular round of counseling, it cannot be treated as arbitrary.

 

Earlier, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday informed the apex court that it has completed four rounds of online counseling for NEET PG-21 and due to the software shutdown, it will be able to secure 1,456 seats by conducting Special Stray Vacancy counseling rounds. The petitions have been filed by doctors who appeared in the NEET-PG 2021-22 exam and participated in rounds 1 and 2 of All India Quota (AIQ) counseling and state quota counseling followed by All India Mop-up and The State Mop-up Round and the All India Stray Vacancy Round was concluded on May 7 by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC). However, even after this more than 1400 seats are vacant and many candidates, who want to take admission, are not able to take it.
