The visit of Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to Qatar has been canceled. On Monday, officials said that the yatra had to be canceled due to some important political engagements in the country. Prachanda was to make his first foreign trip to Qatar after taking over as prime minister two months ago. Prachanda's media coordinator Surya Kiran Sharma said on Monday, "The Prime Minister's visit to Qatar to attend the fifth conclave of LDCs has been canceled due to important political engagements in his country." Earlier, on Sunday, the Ministry of External Affairs announced that Prime Minister Prachanda would travel to Qatar to attend the LDC meeting on his first foreign visit after assuming the top executive post.

Presidential elections will be held in Nepal on March 9

The Prime Minister has canceled this visit because the presidential election is going to be held in Nepal on March 9, in such a situation he has decided not to leave the country. Eight political parties, including the Prachanda-led CPN-Maoist Centre, have decided to support senior Nepali Congress leader Ramchandra Poudayal for the state premier's post during the elections.

danger looming over the government

With eight political parties, Ramchandra's election to the post of President is almost certain. However, this development may lead to a political crisis for the government of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda'. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's party CPN-Maoist Center has decided to support Paudel, the leader of the opposition Nepali Congress, instead of supporting the candidate of KP Sharma Oli, an ally in the coalition government.
