Terrorism industry in Pakistan: Jaishankar said - PAK itself is responsible for the difficulties, will know the opinion of its people before giving help

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday that Pakistan itself is responsible for its difficulties. During a program, the Foreign Minister said – If you run the terrorism industry, such big problems will come. As far as helping him is concerned, we will first see what the people of India think about it.

The Foreign Minister has started Pakistan after a long time. He was asked if Pakistan's economy is very bad and if should India not help Pakistan at this time.

Pakistan itself is responsible for this situation.

Jaishankar was answering media questions at the Asia Economic Dialogue on Thursday. This event was organized by the Foreign Ministry itself. Delegations and ministers from all the neighboring countries except Pakistan were present here.

Some questions were asked to the Indian Foreign Minister on the economy and politics of Pakistan standing on the verge of bankruptcy. On one such question, Jaishankar said – No such country can progress by removing difficulties, whose basic industry is terrorism.

After this he was asked – India should not help Pakistan in the present situation. India had given all kinds of help to Sri Lanka in a similar situation.

In response, the Foreign Minister said- The real issue is terrorism and this is the biggest obstacle in the relations between India and Pakistan. How can India ignore this issue? If the terrorism industry continues to run like this in Pakistan, then its problems will not end. As for how India can help him, I want to make it clear that before that I have to understand the sentiments of the people of my country. I have to understand what my countrymen think about helping Pakistan. And I do not need to say anything more than this, because you already know the answer of the people of the country.

Things like this don't happen all of a sudden

A day earlier, Jaishankar had given an interview to the news agency ANI. Here he answered important questions related to India's foreign policy. Even then he had mentioned Pakistan. The Foreign Minister had said- Remember, no country suddenly reaches the situation which Pakistan has reached. There are many reasons for this and everyone knows them.

The country is bankrupt.

Defense Minister Khwaja Mohammad Asif said a few days ago – Pakistan has become bankrupt. We are all living in a default country. Regarding the economic crisis of Pakistan, the Defense Minister even said that now even the IMF cannot help us. We have to find the solution on our own.

The Defense Minister held the politicians and bureaucracy responsible for the economic condition of the country. He said that the Constitution of Pakistan was not followed. Asif accused the former government of Imran Khan of giving shelter to terrorists in the country.

IMF did not give a loan

On 31 January 2023, an IMF team led by Nathan Porter reaches Pakistan. This team has a meeting with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in two phases. The first phase of the meeting will run from January 31 to February 3, while the second phase will run from February 3 to February 9.

In the meeting, Pakistan was demanding a loan from the IMF under the bailout package. In fact, in 2019, during Imran Khan's government, the IMF promised to provide more than $ 6 billion to Pakistan under the bailout package. Now, under this promise, Pakistan is seeking another tranche of $1.1 billion from the IMF. However, for this, the meeting which lasted for 10 days remained inconclusive. The IMF team returned from Pakistan.

IMF official Nathan Porter said- Virtual discussion on this issue with Pakistan will continue. As of now, no agreement has been signed.

Strict conditions of the IMF

IMF has once again refused to give a memorandum named MEFP to Pakistan. This is the memorandum that Pakistan will get a bailout package as soon as it comes into its hands. IMF wants that first the Pakistan government should accept its conditions to improve its economy.

IMF has mainly put three types of conditions before the Government of Pakistan for giving loans.

IMF says that Pakistan is already facing a $900 billion circular debt. In such a situation, if the Government of Pakistan does not take any tough decision to give a boost to the economy, then it will be very difficult to overcome it. In this situation, advice has been given to collect 170 billion rupees from the people of Pakistan through different taxes.

The second condition is that Pakistan should give tax exemption on the export of goods to improve its economy. After this, the goods manufactured in the country will go to other countries, which will strengthen the economy of Pakistan.

There is also a condition that Pakistan should not have a shortage of US dollars in foreign exchange reserves under any circumstances. For this, pressure is being created to seek help from Saudi Arabia, China, and UAE.

trying to cut costs

With foreign reserves (deposits) of just $3 billion, the last attempt to save Pakistan, which is on the verge of bankruptcy, has also begun. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif made important announcements related to a drastic reduction in government expenditure on Wednesday night. Said- I and the rest of the cabinet ministers will not take a salary. All Union ministers will pay the bills of electricity, water, gas, and telephone from their pocket.
