Darrell Mitchell's (102) century and Matt Henry's 72 off 75 balls helped New Zealand take an 18-run lead in the first innings of the first Test against Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka had scored 355 runs in the first innings. New Zealand managed to score 373 runs in the first innings.
