WTC Final: India reached the final of the championship because of Sri Lanka, not because of the performance in the fourth test

The Indian cricket team has reached the final of the World Test Championship. New Zealand won the first Test played against Sri Lanka in Christchurch to take India to the final. India needed a defeat or a draw against Sri Lanka in either of the two Tests to qualify for the final. New Zealand gave great happiness to India by defeating the Lankan team. Now the result of the fourth Test match between India and Australia will not have any effect on the equation of the World Test Championship.

 

India has reached the final of the World Test Championship for the second time in a row. The last time in 2021, he got defeated by New Zealand. This time New Zealand has helped him reach the final. This time Team India will play against Australia in the final. A four-Test series is currently being played between the two teams. India is ahead 2-1. The final of the World Test Championship between India and Australia will be played at the Oval Stadium in England from June 7 to 11.

 

What happened in the Sri Lanka-New Zealand match?

Talking about the match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first. Sri Lanka scored 355 runs in the first innings. At the same time, New Zealand scored 373 runs in the first innings. In this way, he got a lead of 18 runs in the first innings. Sri Lanka scored 302 runs in the second innings. New Zealand got a target of 285 runs to win in the second innings. Thanks to a century from Kane Williamson, Sri Lanka was defeated on the last ball of the fifth and final day of the match.

Kane Williamson, one of the world's greatest batsmen, played a marathon inning while chasing the target in the second innings. He kept his wicket till the end. On one side wickets were falling continuously and on the other hand, Williamson was scoring runs. He scored an unbeaten 121 runs. Williamson hit 11 fours in 194 balls. A six also came out of his bat. Darrell Mitchell played an inning of 81 runs for New Zealand. Tom Lathan scored 25 and Henry Nicholls scored 20 runs. Michael Bracewell scored a crucial 10 runs.
