
The Supreme Court on Monday issued notice to the Gujarat government on Teesta Setalvad's bail plea. During the hearing in the bench of Justice UU Lalit, Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Teesta, said that we want interim relief, hearing has been kept in the High Court on September 19.
On this, the court said that you wait till August 25. Just takes 3 days. Teesta was arrested for falsifying records to implicate high officials of the state in the Gujarat riots conspiracy case.

Activist Teesta's bail plea has been rejected by the lower court, after which Teesta has filed an appeal in the High Court. However, Teesta had moved the Supreme Court after giving September 19 as the date of hearing from the High Court.
Crime Branch took action after the SC order
The Supreme Court on June 24 dismissed the petition against the SIT report giving clean chit to the then Chief Minister Narendra Modi in the 2002 Gujarat riots case. The petition was filed by Zakia Jafri. Zakia Jafri's husband Ehsan Jafri died in these riots. The Supreme Court said that there is no merit in Zakia's petition.
The court had also said that Setalvad, the co-petitioner in the case, played with the sentiments of Zakia Jafri. The court had asked for an investigation into the role of Teesta, after which the Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested Teesta from Mumbai on June 25.
