New Delhi: Now you can transfer money through WhatsApp in the country. WhatsApp has been allowed to launch UPI based payment service in India. According to the report, the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI) has allowed WhatsApp to launch UPI based systems in India.
Significantly, WhatsApp started the payment service in June this year. But only a few users got the opportunity to use this feature. However, still, NPCI has allowed the transfer of money to WhatsApp for a limited number only. But now the company will increase its scope.
NPCI issued a press release saying that WhatsApp has been approved by WhatsApp for the payment system. WhatsApp was only waiting for this approval because it had already tested it. Now soon the payment option will come on WhatsApp.
According to NPCI, WhatsApp can expand its UPI user base in a graded manner. For this, the maximum user base can be 20 million. At present, there is no statement related to this from WhatsApp.
After launching the payment service, WhatsApp wrote a blog to give information about it. In his blog, he said that this service is currently free but merchants will have to pay 3.99 percent processing fees to get money. With the help of this feature, users will be able to transfer money with the help of a 6-digit PIN or fingerprint scan. To use it, the user has to link his WhatsApp account with Visa or Mastercard's credit or debit card.
