Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma, who was embroiled in controversies by stating Prophet Mohammad, has once again reached the Supreme Court. Sharma has demanded to transfer the cases registered against him in 8 states to one place.
A bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice B Pastorwala will hear the petition on Tuesday. Sharma had earlier filed a petition on July 1, seeking relief, but the court refused to listen.
What is in Nupur Sharma's new petition?
In the new petition filed by Nupur, it has been said that after the observation of the court, the danger to her life has increased further. In such a situation, relief should be given against him from arrest in the case registered against him in 8 states. Apart from the Centre, Maharashtra, Telangana, West Bengal, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, and Assam have been made parties in the petition.
Kolkata Police has issued a lookout notice
On July 2 itself, Kolkata Police issued a lookout notice against Nupur Sharma. Nupur did not appear for questioning on the FIR registered at Amherst Street Police Station, after which the notice was issued. At the same time, Maharashtra and Telangana police also want to interrogate Nupur.
The Supreme Court made a strong remark
On July 1, Nupur Sharma filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking relief, which the court refused to hear. While hearing the petition, the court also made strict remarks. The court said- 'The situation in the country has deteriorated because of you. You apologized late, that too with the condition that if someone's sentiments have been hurt, then I withdraw the statement. You should come on national TV and apologize to the whole country.
The question was also raised on Delhi Police
Nupur's lawyers were demanding the transfer of all the cases in the court to Delhi, on which the court had questioned the functioning of the Delhi Police itself. The court had said – what action has been taken in the FIR registered in Delhi? Here, maybe the police have laid a red carpet for you? You go to the High Court of every state and make your point, get bail from the lower court.
BJP took action against Nupur Sharma
On May 27, Nupur Sharma made controversial remarks on the Prophet in a TV debate, after which her statement started protesting across the country. At the same time, some Islamic countries also objected. Here, BJP distanced itself from Nupur's statement and expelled her from the party.
